Tentative applications have already been received

for the sale of land in this area valued at approximately $232,000 and, in the circumstances I consider that the additional expenditure asked for will be justified. The Finance Committee has been informally consulted and concurs

unanimously in this view.

The work if approved can be carried out under the existing contract the terms of which are exceptionally

favourable.

5. I should accordingly be glad to receive your approval under Colonial Regulation 281 by telegraph in order that steps may be taken to invite the Legislative Council

to vote the necessary funds.
